Gaze Burvill

For our Oak Collections only prime Oak is selected. Using steam we shape the solid wood into strong flowing curves that provide exceptional comfort and support. Each piece is hand built by craftsmen and has its own number and maker’s mark. It is rare to see Marine Grade Stainless Steel used for furniture design. Rarer still to see it in the elegant tapered section designed to give the Bowline Collection its unique visual quality.
Consideration for the environment was one of our original concerns, as we are unwilling to use resources which are not regenerated at a sufficient rate to halt the erosion of the world’s rainforests. However, we remain determined not to compromise on the quality and durability of our output.

Our first choice of material was therefore oak: strong, durable, with a transparent supply chain of timber from regenerated forests close to home. Oak also has another advantage, which is that it is simply the craftsman’s favourite resource.

Oak from the forests of Europe is one of the most durable temperate hardwoods. From timber framed buildings to old ships, our continent is littered with testimony to this fact.

One of the first members of ‘Woodland Heritage’, Gaze Burvill has had ‘Chain of Custody’ certification from the Forest Stewardship Council since May 2003.In 1992 Christian Gaze and I founded Gaze Burvill with the aim of creating the finest outdoor furniture, which did not have a damaging impact on the environment. We both trained with John Makepeace’s Parnham Trust in Dorset, Christian at the School for Craftsmen in Wood, and I at Hooke Park College.

Lifetime Warranty
For residential use, we warrant our furniture to the original owner to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the original owner. This warranty is not transferable and is limited to repair or replacement at or sole discretion. Claimed defective items must be returned to us prepaid. We specifically disclaim warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. This warranty does not apply to damage resulting from improper maintenance, misuse, negligence, normal wear or abuse.
Care of Furniture
Simple instructions for the care of GAZE BURVILL Oak and Stainless Steel Collection are supplied with the furniture.
Cushions
Fitted cushions are available to order, though the seats are perfectly comfortable without them. Standard cushions are made from cotton drill in a variety of standard colours, while we offer large down-filled scatter cushions in Allegra Hicks linen prints for the Splash Collection. Cushions should not be left outside all the time to get damp.We design and build our Collections in Oak and Marine Grade Stainless Steel. We select only the finest materials and use the best of traditional craft methods and modern technology.

The workshop is tucked away in farm buildings in Hampshire, and in 2002 the Showroom in London opened its doors.
